Job summary

Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Residential Assistant for the Crisis Receiving Center with evening and overnight shifts to support clients and staff. The role involves monitoring client behavior, assisting nurses, transporting clients when needed, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment.

You will document events, orient new clients to policies, and perform housing duties while upholding trauma-informed care and agency guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience working with mentally ill and/or chemically dependent population preferred.
• Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
• Good driving record with no more than two moving violations in three years and no criminal moving violations in five years.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client behavior in the facility with one-to-one supervision as directed by the treatment team.
• Make rounds.
• Provide crisis interventions and notify nursing/clinician staff as needed.
• Document client behaviors and safety issues in the staff log.
• Orient new clients to program policies and procedures.
• Assist nurses with answering phones and other tasks.
• Transport clients to emergency facilities or home as needed.
• Sanitize recliners, change linens, wash linens, mop floors, clean bathrooms, and perform other housing duties.
• Perform duties consistent with agency policies and procedures.
