Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare in Roanoke, VA invites applications for a Residential Assistant in our Crisis Stabilization & Detox unit. This relief/secondary role supports admissions/discharges, rounds, and client care in a short-term stabilization setting with detox services.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and driving responsibilities; if selected, a background check will be completed. This is a part-time relief opportunity with a focus on patient safety and timely care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Working directly with individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders is a plus.
• Background Check: Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
• Safe Driving Record: This position requires transporting clients or driving agency vehicles. Good driving record: no more than two moving violations in last three years and no criminal moving violations in last five years.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with admissions and discharges.
• Answering the phone.
• Completing and recording vital signs.
• Assisting clients to groups and meals.
• Providing client transportation as needed.
• Completing medication pick-up.
• Assisting in the kitchen as needed.
• Maintaining overall cleanliness of the unit (beds, linens, floors, trash, bathrooms).
• Monitoring client safety via 30 and 15 minute rounds.
