Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Transporter to support patient flow in the department. The role requires adhering to Code of Ethics and safety standards, with shift hours 6:30 PM to 3:00 AM and every other weekend.

You will transport patients, verify identities with two identifiers, prepare transport equipment, disinfect between transports, assist patients, and report maintenance or equipment needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (or within 90 days).
• Preferred: 1 year of experience with patient transport handling.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients as assigned.
• Verify patient identity with two identifiers.
• Adjust transport equipment for safety and comfort.
• Disinfect equipment between transports.
• Assist patients onto transport equipment.
• Maintain transport equipment cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
• Notify staff on arrival or departure of patients.
• Handle patient documents (e.g., ticket to ride).
• Report any unusual symptoms during transport.
• Ensure infection control and PPE use.
• Transport patient oxygen safely after clinician setup.
• Provide feedback on equipment availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
