Job summary

Mercy Physician Services, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and mid-level providers in patient care. You will prepare rooms, gather histories, take vitals, and perform routine procedures under provider supervision.

You will also administer injections, collect specimens, conduct EKGs and nebulizer treatments, manage specimen labeling, and provide patient education using approved materials. The role requires BLS and MA certification, with prior clinic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter training completed.
• One year of medical office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, supplies and protective devices for exam and testing prior to the visit.
• Room and prepare the patient for examination, review histories and take vitals.
• Administer injections and collect specimens per standing orders; perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures (EKG, nebulizer) and patient education.
• Manage patient communications regarding test/lab results and care instructions.
• Support medication requests/changes per established protocols and document accordingly.
