Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the evening shift in the Core Laboratory. The role involves performing routine and complex analytic procedures on blood and body fluids, with emphasis on quality control and accurate reporting.

The candidate will evaluate instrument performance, correlate results with other lab data, and participate in quality improvement activities while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college/university.
• Requires six months of experience in a medical laboratory.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex analytic procedures on blood and/or other body fluids using manual or automated techniques.
• Evaluate instrument performance and quality control results to ensure data accuracy.
• Correlate results with other lab data and disease states.
• Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot laboratory equipment and LIS.
• Comply with policies, protect patient confidentiality, and participate in QA/QI activities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science

Certification/licensure (ASCP/AMT or BB/C/CG/CT/M/MB) preferred
