Job summary

Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform analyses from diverse specimens and maintain instrument quality. The role requires a BS and ASCP/NAACLS MLS program completion, with additional ASCP categorical certification beneficial. It is a full-time position with rotating shifts at GJSH.

Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Scientist requires a BS degree and ASCP/NAACLS-accredited MLS program completion.
• BS in biological/chemical/physical/clinical lab science with ASCP certification is required.
• BS in lab science plus at least two years’ experience as MLT in a clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports analyses from multiple specimen sources.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and performs quality control on instruments.
• Navigates multiple computer applications as needed for job duties.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees.
• Participates in educational activities to maintain current knowledge.
• Adheres to all department policies and procedures.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory
