Job summary

Certified Group is hiring a Microbiology Technician to join our growing team in Illinois. The role prepares samples for microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples, applying approved techniques used in analytical testing.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, with an Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred. The schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00pm-11:30pm, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a food testing laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
• Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
• Maintain media and reagents for daily microbiological testing.
• Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements.
• Provide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
• Perform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures and running controls.
• Pursue assigned processes in accordance with FSNS policies and customer requirements.
• Maintain laboratory conditions, equipment, supplies, and quality assurance programs.
• Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
• Share information in an open and timely manner.
• Assist with managing priorities to support team goals and Food Safety Net Services standards.
• Ensure safety of oneself and others in the lab and complete required training.
