Job summary

Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, Illinois, is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our treatment team. Under the guidance of an RN, you will provide continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across ages while helping create a therapeutic environment.

This full-time position offers a 3:00 pm–11:30 pm schedule, five shifts per week with every-other weekend and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; CNA preferred; degree in social work or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record vital signs.
• Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN.
• Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision.
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use CPI techniques.
• Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene.
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
