Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ, is seeking an evening-shift, part-time Medical-Surgical Unit Clerk to support nursing unit operations. You will provide essential secretarial support, maintain patient records, and coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges with Care Management.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and strong office and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with patients, families, and hospital staff to ensure efficient unit

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency.
• Strong office skills as well as interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• The Unit Clerk will be responsible for ensuring the nursing unit runs efficiently.
• Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, other hospital departments, and unit staff.
• Coordinate with Care Management concerning admissions, transfers, and discharges, and notify the hospitalist if needed.
• Maintain and update patients' records for a given unit.
• Perform a variety of general clerical and non-clinical patient duties, and facilitate communication.
• Expedite interdepartmental services and complies and keep records required on the nursing unit.
• Assist the nursing staff in coordinating the activity of the unit.
• Assist with patient care/quality assurance audits.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
