Job summary

Somerset Ridge is seeking an enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Somerset, MA. The role covers a variety of standard maintenance tasks in the center grounds and facilities, following directions from the Maintenance Director and ensuring safe, clean conditions for residents.

The position emphasizes responsibility, reliability, and basic repair work across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and safety areas.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED; basic wiring, plumbing, and carpentry knowledge.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Comply with vaccination and testing requirements as required by state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and unskilled maintenance tasks on center grounds and facilities.
• Follow directions from the Maintenance Director and work closely with the team.
• Keep building and grounds clean, safe, and orderly; maintain and repair basic functions of the center.
• Care for tools and equipment; perform minor repairs on rails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, and equipment.
• Provide customer service and assume supervisory duties in absence of supervisor.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant provides a variety of standard and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of center grounds and facilities.

Job Skills

• Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.
• Maintains building and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Maintains and repairs basic functions of the center as determined by the Maintenance Director.
• Takes care of the tools and equipment.
• Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carriers, lifts, and stocks supplies.
• Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in his/her absence.
• Puts customer service first.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Ability to comply with HIPAA laws.
• This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Comply with all vaccination and testing requirements as required by state and federal regulations.

Job Type: Evenings 4 pm - 8 pm, 3 days a week including Friday. Saturday 8 am - 4pm!
