Soul & Smoke in Evanston, IL is seeking an experienced Line/Prep Cook to join as we open our expanded restaurant at the end of August. The role requires strong time management, communication, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Compensation ranges from $17-22+ per hour with pooled revenue share and additional benefits. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detailed-oriented, energetic, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency

Qualifications

• 2 years of line/prep experience with some fine dining and expediting preferred.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends; flexible when necessary.
• Food handler's certificate preferred; reliable and timely.
• Able to multitask, stay organized, and work autonomously or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, smoking, grilling, sautéing, and other cooking methods according to recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper food storage to meet sanitation requirements.
• Perform inventory checks and complete food storage logs as required.
• Prep and send out orders in a fast-paced setting.
• Assist catering and production teams as needed.
• Break down and clean the station at close.
• Communicate proactively and professionally with coworkers.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.
• Garmo/grill/saute stations available.
