# Evening Lead Milieu CoachHot JobChild & Family Healing Center - Richmond, VA 23230## OverviewSalary Range$18.50 - $25.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull Time## Evening Lead Milieu Coach**SUMMARY**Participate as a member of a treatment team in Child & Family Healing Center’s residential program to meet the social, recreational, behavioral, and educational needs of youth exhibiting acute emotional and behavioral difficulties. Implement, lead and participate in social and recreational activities for youth. Create and follow through on a schedule of rotation through the suites providing support where needed. Provide a safe and therapeutic milieu that meets the physical and emotional needs of our clients. Implement treatment protocols established by a multi-disciplinary team. Respond to crisis as directed by Evening/Weekend Manager, Treatment Specialist or Administrators. Assume assigned tasks and responsibilities from supervisor and Administrative Staff.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)**Operational Support and Coaching of Support Coaches*** Demonstrate proficiency and leadership in Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) by becoming a local expert in order to assist staff with CPS interventions.* Continuously coach team members of proper de-escalation and restraint techniques through demonstration and training* Create proactive interventions for youth by reviewing changeover notes, SIRs and information about previous shifts.* Support on-boarding for new Support Coaches by modeling, training and providing feedback.* Ensure adherence to suite schedules and planned activities are followed.**SIGHT AND SOUND SUPERVISION and PROGRAM LIFE ENGAGEMENT*** Provide supervision to youth in close proximity to hear and see them at all times.* Use Collaborative Problem Solving techniques to help clients with challenging behaviors and to build helping relationships.* Show an interest in clients by interacting with them regarding their day, and have a working knowledge of their background, family and community.* Actively engage with youth in program and recreation activities.* Supervise and monitor youth and activities in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.* Maintain and promote a positive, constructive and therapeutic environment by maintaining a harmonious environment that facilitates constructive group activities throughout the treatment milieu.* Serve as a role model for youth in the areas of ethics, morals, appearance, spirituality, lifestyle principles, and by using techniques outlined in Foundation and TOVA Training.* Understand treatment and program philosophy and implement when interacting with youth.* Effectively follow recreation schedule.**PHYSICAL INTERVENTION, CRISIS AND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS*** Provide crisis intervention for residents, to include the use of approved verbal and physical intervention techniques within agency policy and procedure and any physical restraints (if needed) are to be used in compliance with TOVA training.* Implement the agency's Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support practice according to policy and procedures. Practice healthy conflict resolution.* Respond adequately to emergencies and potentially unsafe situations with clients.* Responsible for contacting nurse and on-call if a crisis or emergency has occurred including completing any required documentation and notification appropriate individuals (to include guardians).**SOCIAL SKILLS AND INEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS*** Teach and role model social skills including effective interpersonal skills, appropriate feedback, boundaries, dress, language, conversation skills, impulse control, good manners, reliability, respect, and honesty.* Teach youth to advocate getting their needs met by using “I” statements.* Teach and role model independent living skills including effective personal hygiene, cleaning chores, laundering, money management, and cleanliness of personal living areas (PLAs).**MEDICATION MANAGEMENT*** Responsible for administering medication as prescribed to clients and documenting medication doses and for contacting nurse or on call with any medication issue.**THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS*** Learn and understand the six areas of the Circle of CourageTM.* Facilitate and document a variety of therapeutic interventions designed to support group development the youths' treatment plans including but not limited to daily goal setting, evaluation of daily expectations, and conflict resolution.* Review Daily Treatment Intervention Logs (DTILs) and provide positive and constructive feedback to team members to celebrate successes and address any need areas for improved quality.* Responsible for ensuring the Residents’ Schedule is updated as needed with supervisor approval.**SERIOUS INCIENTS**Responsible for ensuring that all YCs receive training and display ability to complete serious incident reports accurately meeting agency guidelines.**CLIENT TRANSPORTATION*** Provide client transportation safely to emergency room visits (as needed), and recreational events.* Maintain valid driver’s license and follow Shineforth guidelines in regards to your driving record**TEAM SUPPORT*** Provide support to the team by being solutions focused.* ·Attend and participate in weekly milieu* ·Work closely with Treatment Team members to support client’s treatment goals.* ·Display dependability by arriving to shifts or meetings on time and prepared.* ·Complete required trainings within the mandated timeframe.* ·Promptly identify maintenance issues and report it to Evening/Weekend Manager or designee.**COMMUNICATION and INTERPERSONAL SKILLS*** Provide guidance and direction to youth in an age appropriate manner that develops and nurtures social norms.* Build positive, caring relationships with youth based on respect, trust and appropriate boundaries.* Empathically listen to clients and reflect back the content and emotions to ensure they are heard and understood.* Demonstrate good interpersonal skills by working amicably and effectively with coworkers, client’s family, social worker, and referring agency.* Provide constructive and positive feedback to youth, coworkers, and supervisees.* Interact effectively and professionally with all staff and clients.* Communicate respectfully and effectively with staff and clients of all cultures, races, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and faith or religions.**TECHNOLOGY SKILLS*** Read emails at the beginning of each shift and respond if appropriate.* Use computer accurately clock in and out through use of the ADP system.* Ability to use a variety of agency software technologies to access forms and policies/procedures, complete documentation, e-mail, manage security system codes, and complete timecard.**DOCUMENTATION**Accurately complete and maintain documentation such as Daily Treatment Intervention Logs (DTILs), Serious Incident reports (SIR), Changeover email, Client Phone/Letter/Visitation logs, vehicle use, editions to Team Minutes and other forms if applicable.**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year experience working in a children’s residential setting or 5 years’ experience working in mental health field will be equivalent. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repeated hand-wrist movement required. Corrected vision to normal range; normal hearing and talking is required for verbal communications. Ability to use a variety of office and computer equipment and machines as referenced. Driving short and long distances is frequent to transport youth or attend required meetings. Good memory and recall is necessary for the accurate and timely transfer of data/information.
