Job summary

Valley Health is seeking a Laboratory Courier for the Lab Outreach Program to transport patient specimens and related materials. The role emphasizes specimen integrity, safety, and timely delivery during the second shift within the Valley Health system.

Responsibilities include specimen pick-ups, accurate logging, and delivery to lab sections, with duties expanding to reporting, orders, and assisting new couriers. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required.

• Skills to operate vehicles in all weather conditions.
• Must be neat and have a pleasant personality.
• Must be able to communicate verbally.
• Maintain records that apply to courier duties.
• Must be adaptable and flexible to handle changes in work systems.

Responsibilities

• Drives to client’s offices for pick-up of specimens and ensures proper times and locations are observed.
• Delivers specimens to the appropriate lab section after accessioning.
• Checks specimens against request slips for proper collection.
• Completes daily route log and prepares reports.
• Delivers laboratory reports in a timely fashion.
• Picks up requests, fills orders, and returns necessary supplies.
