Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is seeking a Senior Clerk to manage pre- and post-analytical processes, including registration, specimen handling, and issue resolution. Responsibilities span order entry, tracking, troubleshooting, and training staff in a fast-paced laboratory environment at the Moses campus.

Located in the Moses campus Laboratory Services, the role requires a High School Diploma/GED (associate degree preferred) and experience with laboratory equipment

Qualifications

• Operation of laboratory centrifuges, computers, printers, pneumatic tubes, and office equipment.
• Learn order test codes and use lab information systems.
• Ability to operate and maintain label printers and related equipment.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Patient registration, insurance verification, and all registration and order entry tasks including reference testing.
• Follow-up with clients/clinical staff for information, specimen questions, and reporting of critical values.
• Specimen preparation and handling including CSF, bone marrows, body fluids and anatomic pathology specimens.
• Process specimens according to lab requirements and handle non-blood specimens on automation line.
• Troubleshoot input/output modules and resolve software/track errors.
• Communicate track issues with mechanics, supervisors, and technologists.
• Inventory management and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
• Train other staff and perform other duties as assigned.
