Job summary

Montefiore seeks a Laboratory Technician to support Cytogenetics and Molecular labs. You will receive and process samples, manage equipment logs, and ensure proper waste handling and infection control compliance. The role requires attention to detail, data entry in LIS, and maintaining clean, organized work areas.

Responsibilities include lab material labeling, document filing, and collaboration with supervisors to ensure quality and safety in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Requires familiarity with Laboratory Information System and document scanning processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of autoclave, glassware washer and dryer equipment.
• Experience handling biohazard waste and following safety protocols.
• Understanding Cytogenetics and Molecular lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples and slides and maintain related logs.
• Record equipment maintenance and prepare requisitions for shipment or storage.
• Handle basic facility issues with bioengineering and engineering teams.
• Collect waste and keep work areas organized and clean.
• Label and file Cytogenetics and Molecular lab materials.
• Perform LIS data entry and keep logs up to date.
• Operate autoclave and washing/drying machines.
• Follow infection control procedures and safety guidelines.
• Answer calls and transfer inquiries as needed.
