Job summary

MercyOne Genesis, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Lab Assistant to support multiple laboratory departments in specimen collection, processing, analysis and reporting to aid patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role requires venipuncture skills, accurate labeling, LIS data entry, and adherence to safety and quality standards. It operates on the Evening shift with every other weekend and some holidays.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Personal presence with honesty, integrity and caring values.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks for patients of all ages.
• Accept specimens and requisitions and manage add-ons and pending lists.
• Identify patients and specimens with two identifiers and label correctly.
• Register and log specimens in LIS and ensure data accuracy.
• Process specimens and assist in maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Support general lab operations and participate in projects as assigned.
