Job summary

Brown University Health at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI seeks an Environmental Services Aide to perform floor stripping and refinishing, carpet shampooing, and related cleaning duties to keep assigned areas sanitary. Evening shift 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

with rotating weekends and holidays; requires ability to follow written and oral instructions in English and good interpersonal communication; prior on-the-job training (3–6 months) preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Secondary school level education.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs/strips floors to remove soil and finish; wax to base of floor.
• Operates power equipment, shampoos carpets, and removes spots from carpets.
• Maintains and cleans procedural areas including operating rooms per standards; sets up meeting rooms.
• Maintains surplus storage areas and equipment rooms in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Reports any necessary repair needs to supervisor and prepares cleaning solutions as required.
• Cleans elevators, restrooms and fixtures; cleans vents, lights, ceilings, walls; transports trash and performs related tasks.
