Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids is seeking a part-time kitchen helper for an evening/night shift (4:30pm–9:30pm) with every other weekend duties. The role focuses on preparing fresh, patient-centered meals, following recipes via the CBORD system, and maintaining sanitary, safe work areas.

You will work with staff to ensure quality food handling, communicate with colleagues and management, and complete Mercy's nutrition training within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or AS in culinary arts preferred.
• Must attend Mercy nutrition course within six months.
• Servsafe certification preferred.
• Experience in institutional cooking preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for patients, staff, and special functions.
• Work with CBORD program to follow recipes to ensure consistent products.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Make food in a manner consistent with proper food handling procedures.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers as well as managerial staff.
• Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
