Baystate Health in Springfield, MA is seeking a Cook to join our Food & Nutrition team at Baystate Medical Center. You will prepare nutritious meals for patients, staff, and visitors in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The position is Full-Time, Evening shift (11am-7:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays. Requires adherence to safety guidelines, dietary requirements, and high standards of cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Cook I: 2-4 years experience in the food industry with short order, line cook, and prep functions.
• Cook II: 5 years of cooking experience in hospital, restaurant, or institutional food service.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food according to recipes, menus, and schedules to ensure nutritious meals.
• Follows standardized recipes, portions, and dietary guidelines for patient needs.
• Maintains food safety, sanitation, and hygiene per hospital policies and regulations.
• Operates, cleans, and maintains kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitors temperatures and handling to promote patient safety and quality meals.
• Collaborates with Food & Nutrition Services to meet production schedules and service timelines.
• Keeps work area organized, clean, and ready to support department operations.
