Baystate Health is seeking a Cook to join our Food & Nutrition team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The Cook role supports patient meals and staff dining in a fast-paced healthcare setting, following recipes, ensuring safety, portion control, and dietary requirements.

Two levels exist: Cook I requires 2-4 years in food service with short-order/line cook prep experience; Cook II requires 5 years back-of-house cooking in hospital or institutional food service.

Qualifications

• Cook I requires 2–4 years in the food industry with short order, line cook, and prep experience.
• Cook II requires 5 years of cooking experience, especially back-of-house, in hospital or institutional food service.
• ServSafe Food Handlers Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food according to recipes and standards to serve patients, staff, and visitors.
• Follows recipes, portion-control, and dietary guidelines; maintains safety and sanitation.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment; ensures timely meal delivery and patient satisfaction.
