Yosemite Pathology in Modesto, CA is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare slides from tissue samples for pathologists and prioritize testing procedures. The role requires accurate record-keeping and adherence to policies and regulations.

Shift is Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00pm–6:30am. Responsibilities include routine paraffin embedding, staining, controls, tissue retrieval, and instrument maintenance. ASCP HT preferred; 2–4 years histology experience and an associate degree are desirable.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of Histology experience.
• ASCP HT Certification preferred.
• Associate's degree in biology or related field preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Strong communication skills, verbally and written.
• Manual Dexterity and strong attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Daily cleaning and set up of work area to include instruments, waterbath, microtome, and workbench.
• Paraffin embedding of routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens.
• Ability to produce quality sections of all paraffin embedded routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens cutting of all levels, recuts, re-embeds and stains.
• Basic understanding of the H&E stain.
• Ability to check H&E control for stain quality.
• Daily maintenance of the Prisma stainer and coverslipper.
• Retrieving correct tissue blocks and slides from storage areas.
• Maintain special stain control bank and cutting control blocks as needed.
• Basic understanding of Histology special stains and tissue components they stain for, use of appropriate controls.

Yosemite Pathology is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.

YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology, and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.

Summary/Objective

The Histology Technician is responsible for preparing slides from tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner while maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential Functions

• Daily cleaning and set up of work area to include instruments, waterbath, microtome, and workbench
• Paraffin embedding of routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens.
• Ability to produce quality sections of all paraffin embedded routine Anatomic Pathology tissue specimens cutting of all "levels", "recuts", "re-embeds" and stains
• Basic understanding of the H&E stain
• Ability to check "H&E" control for stain quality
• Daily maintenance of the Prisma stainer and coverslipper
• Retrieving correct tissue blocks and slides from storage areas
• Maintain special stain control bank and cutting control blocks as needed
• Basic understanding of the H&E stain
• Ability to troubleshoot Prisma stainer issues
• Basic understanding of Histology special stains and the tissue components they stain for, use of appropriate controls.

Job Requirements And Skills

• 2 - 4 years of Histology experience
• Preferred ASCP HT Certification
• Associate's degree in biology or related field (Preferred)
• Intermediate computer skills
• Strong communication skills, verbally and written.
• Manual Dexterity and strong attention to detail

Compensation And Benefits

• The compensation is $47,840 - $66,560 annually paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day, forty (40) hour per week. Final salary offer subject to multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, geographic location of the role, and current market data.
