Job summary

Wisconsin Counties Association is seeking a full-time kitchen assistant to support food preparation, serving, cleaning, and resident care aligned with the organization's mission.

The position entails PM hours, weekend work, and a starting wage of $17.65/hour plus a $3.00/hour weekend differential. Benefits include PTO, holidays, Health/Dental/Vision, HSA with employer contributions, life insurance, disability, and retirement plan participation.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PPE and its proper use for personal safety.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information and privacy per HIPAA.
  • Ability to create a warm, clean environment and a caring demeanor.
  • Ability to work tactfully with residents, families, visitors and staff.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, families, the public and staff.
  • Must convey a warm, cheerful caring manner.
  • Able to perform essential job functions safely.
  • Knowledge of Health Department rules and SafeServ guidelines.
  • Knowledge of quality food preparation, storage, sanitation, and equipment safety.
  • Ability to follow recipes and cook large quantities.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely.
  • Handle and use cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Interpret and implement local policies; follow regulations.
  • Time management to handle high volume and changing priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and independent with tight deadlines.
  • Think quickly, stay calm under pressure.
  • Basic computer skills (word, spreadsheet, database).
  • Perform mathematical calculations as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Keep food storage and work areas clean and safe.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, counters and equipment to Health Department standards.
  • Regularly clean stoves, steam tables, ovens, refrigerators, floors.
  • Store food and supplies in an orderly manner.
  • Prep hot and cold dish ingredients.
  • Assist the Cook in preparing high-quality, bulk menu items.
  • Set up serving lines and assist with serving.
  • Report changes in resident condition and update diet changes.
  • Clear and clean tables and chairs after meals.
  • Clean spills promptly and restock condiments and silverware.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles.
  • Provide backup assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
