Job summary
The Fortune Society, Inc. is seeking a full-time PorterUnit in Facilities Management to perform daily cleaning of offices and common spaces. You will service restrooms, move furniture, and handle periodic heavy-cleaning tasks at Castle III in New York City.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of experience with vinyl tile finishing and operating cleaning machinery. Attention to safety and reliable attendance are essential.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED/HSE preferred.
- At least 2 years experience stripping, sealing, finishing, burnishing and buffing vinyl composition tile (VCT).
- At least 2 years of experience operating light and heavy cleaning machines including auto-scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers and vacuums.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures for floors and surfaces.
- Ability to work independently and follow supervisor directions.
Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
- Service, clean and supply restrooms.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
- Move heavy furniture and equipment using hand trucks.
- Shampoo carpets; strip, seal, finish and polish floors.
- Set up, arrange or remove decorations, tables, chairs and ladders as needed.
- Deliver packages to agency staff; assist fire warden during drills.
- Maintain building security after operating hours.
