Job summary

Waynflete School in Portland, ME seeks a Lead Custodian to supervise a team of six and work alongside them to keep the campus clean and safe, manage schedules, supplies, and daily tasks.

The position is a 12‑month, Level I, non‑exempt role with a salary of $26–$29/hour. Requires a HS diploma and 3–5 years custodial experience, with 1–2 years in a supervisory role; proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; further certifications preferred.
• 3–5 years custodial or facilities experience; 1–2 years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of safe use of cleaning supplies and equipment in a school setting.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office; ability to manage task files.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in daily cleaning duties with the team to maintain high standards.
• Supervise and schedule a custodial team of 6 employees and provide support.
• Reference and update custodial task lists; ensure daily compliance.
• Audit work daily and guide the team using standards and checklists.
• Manage supplies, inventory, and report campus maintenance issues.
• Ready campus after winter storms and support events’ setup and cleanup.
