Job summary

Waynflete School in Portland, ME seeks a Lead Custodian to lead a custodial team and ensure daily campus cleanliness and safety. You will work hands-on with the crew, schedule tasks, and supervise six staff while maintaining high facility standards.

The role requires 3–5 years in custodial work with 1–2 years in supervision; proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office; and the ability to manage supplies and respond to maintenance needs. School events support included.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; safety or facility management certifications preferred.
• Experience: 3–5 years in custodial/facilities; 1–2 years in supervision.
• Safety: knowledge of safe cleaning practices in a school setting.
• Technology: proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office; able to navigate security systems.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in daily hands-on cleaning with the team to maintain high standards.
• Ensure facilities are clean and safe for all community members.
• Supervise and schedule a custodial team of 6 employees.
• Reference, update, and follow daily custodial task lists with checklists.
• Audit completed work and guide the team to standards.
• Manage supplies, inventory, and report maintenance issues.
• Support campus readiness after winter storms and during events.
