Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Environmental Services Technician (EVS) - Housekeeping Leader within the EMS at a VA Medical Center.

The role supports and performs tasks related to environmental care, textile distribution, and EMS objectives, under the Housekeeping Supervisor. The candidate will apply chemistry, biology, and infection-control principles to hospital housekeeping, operate floor care equipment, and ensure safety procedures are followed in diverse clinical areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospital housekeeping and EMS is preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of environmental health and safety practices in a medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Apply principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology to hospital housekeeping.
• Interpret and implement verbal and written instructions from Supervisor.
• Operate floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
• Scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors; sweep, mop, vacuum, and shampoo carpets.
• Use aseptic cleaning and disinfection techniques; handle waste safely.
• Provide instruction on proper use of equipment and PPE to staff.
• Move equipment, set up ladders, and work with ladders/scaffolds as needed.
• Work 2:30pm-11:00pm, Wednesday through Sunday; subject to change.
