Job summary

MedVet is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician for evening shifts in California. You will join a fast-paced ER team delivering high-quality patient care and client communication.

Responsibilities include rounds, triage, anesthesia induction and monitoring, in-house lab work, and collaboration with DVMs and the care team. Prior emergency experience and a State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work additional hours.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize by assessment.
• Collaborate with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
