Job summary

Utah State University Extension in Salt Lake County is hiring part-time Education Assistants to support evening educational events for children aged 0-11. Responsibilities include childcare, activities, and assisting facilitators while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Reliable access to transportation to and from work sites.
• Evening availability during the school year.
• Experience with children (babysitting, childcare, or similar) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during evening workshops in a safe and welcoming environment.
• Lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, quiet play, etc.) with children.
• Ensure children are signed in/out according to program procedures.
• Respond appropriately to children’s needs, behaviors, and safety concerns.
• Assist workshop facilitators with leading educational activities.
• Help maintain an organized, respectful, and distraction-free environment.
• Support transitions (arrival, activity changes, dismissal).
• Reinforce workshop expectations and behavioral guidelines.
• Prepare and organize materials for children’s activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians at drop-off and pick-up.
• Follow all program policies related to safety, confidentiality, and conduct.
• Report any incidents or concerns to program staff.
