Job summary

University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning, custodial, and light maintenance duties across campus facilities. The role follows daily custodial standards and requires the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Education and experience options include completing eight grades with experience in basic cleaning tasks. Work hours are 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday, with a $4,160 shift differential.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of equipment, materials and methods used in cleaning and custodial work.
• Ability to understand and carry out simple directions.
• Other related capacities and abilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors, carpets, walls, windows, and fixtures across university buildings.
• Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables and other wastes.
• Move or assist in moving office furniture and equipment as needed.
• Spray and fumigate for insects as directed.
• Provide washrooms with soap, paper products and supplies.
• Observe and report safety issues and maintenance needs.
• Clean sidewalks and assist in lawn/garden maintenance; remove snow.
• Operate buffers, vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors and pressure washers.
