Job summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodian for an evening shift to provide cleaning and safety across district facilities. The role requires lifting, operating cleaning equipment, and ensuring a safe environment for students and staff.

The site may involve supervising 1–2 junior custodians and coordinating with the head custodian. Benefits include SEBB health, dental, and vision; paid holidays and vacation days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor in an eight-hour shift.
• Read, write, and comprehend operational instructions and reports.
• Available for contact in emergencies and able to work after hours as requested.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials safety and disposal procedures.
• Basic computer skills, scheduling and work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum and mop floors as needed; move furniture and equipment.
• Dust, clean fixtures, windows, and bathrooms; assist with boiler operations.
• Maintain sidewalks and outdoor areas; de-ice and snow removal as needed.
• Oversee 1–2 site custodial staff; train and coach in safety and cleaning methods.
• Secure building and execute crisis procedures; monitor events and assist with setup.
• Other duties as assigned by head custodian or supervisor.
