Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a Custodial Worker I to join Building Services at West High. This 1.0 FTE, non-exempt role requires working Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, performing cleaning, basic maintenance, and event setup in a major Wisconsin district.

Responsibilities include restrooms, floors, trash removal, deliveries, and outdoor maintenance. Candidates should show willingness to learn and work with diverse staff and students, ensuring a safe, welcoming school

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to take initiative and prioritize tasks.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students, and community.
Experience leading others and training peers is valued.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks per district standards in classrooms, hallways, gyms, offices, cafeterias and restrooms.
Refill supplies and manage custodial carts and storage areas.
Assist with deliveries, room moves, events setup and breakdown.
Perform minor preventive maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
Handle outdoor duties including trash pickup, landscaping, snow/ice removal, and seasonal maintenance.
Follow safety protocols, report hazards, and secure buildings and grounds.
