Job summary

Wilmette District 39 is seeking a dedicated PM Custodian to join our facilities team at Mikaelian Education Center. The role maintains a safe, clean environment for students, staff, and visitors and includes light maintenance tasks.

Work hours are 3:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. during the school year and 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. during breaks. Compensation starts at $20.54/hour, with health, dental, disability, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior custodial or cleaning experience a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
• Physically able to perform the duties of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas according to district standards
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces
• Remove trash and recycling; restock supplies as needed
• Set up and break down rooms for school events and activities
• Perform light maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor repairs)
• Secure the building at the end of your shift
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs or spills promptly
• Follow all safety guidelines and district policies
