Job summary

Geisinger CT technologist position involves operating CT scanners, power injectors and related computer systems to acquire diagnostic images for radiologists across multiple locations.

The role requires adhering to Image Gently protocols, optimizing dose, preparing patients, performing CT interventional procedures and CTA studies, and maintaining strong knowledge of anatomy across thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, neuro and musculoskeletal regions.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical expertise to operate CT Scanners, power injectors and computer systems to acquire images for radiologist diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintain knowledge to operate different CT Systems at multiple locations.
• Maintain protocols based on Image Gently Guidelines and dose data monitoring with alerts for excessive scans.
• Maintain knowledge of clinical histories to match protocols across thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, neuro and musculoskeletal systems.
• Obtains CT images according to established protocols.
• Ensure patient is prepared, positioned, immobilized, shielded when applicable and correct technical factors used.
• Perform CT Interventional Procedures.
• Performs CTA imaging: Carotid, Head, Vertebral, Run-Offs, PE timing and complex CTA like TAVR, EVAR and Cardiac imaging.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge to ensure labs are obtained before exams.
• Maintain physiology knowledge to produce quality scans when conditions vary.
• Maintain physics knowledge to lower patient dose on CT.
• Interpret technical factors to improve quality or speed of scan.
• Work is performed in a clinical environment with adherence to policies; additional competencies may be required.
