Job summary

Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a Residential Assistant for the Crisis Stabilization & Detox unit in Roanoke, VA. The role covers evenings (3pm-11pm), five days per week with alternating weekends, and involves monitoring clients and supporting nursing staff.

You will assist with admissions/discharges, rounds, vital signs, and coordinating meals and transportation, while helping with medication pickup and unit upkeep. A strong focus on safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders is a plus.
• Background checks (fingerprints, state/FBI) and drug test required upon selection.
• Clean driving record with limited moving violations in recent years.

Responsibilities

• Assist admissions and discharges.
• Answer the phone and coordinate with nurse on duty.
• Complete and record vital signs.
• Assist clients to groups and meals.
• Provide client transportation as needed.
• Complete medication pick-up.
• Assist in the kitchen as needed.
• Maintain unit cleanliness (beds, linens, floors, trash, bathrooms).
• Monitor client safety via 30 and 15 minute rounds.
