The role emphasizes portion control, sanitation, and accurate preparation of meals aligned with residents’ needs. Prior experience in healthcare or skilled nursing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires basic food prep and kitchen safety practices.
• Experience with portion control and safe food handling is preferred.
• Knowledge of dietary guidelines and safe sanitation practices is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm necessary ingredients and supplies.
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and compliant with residents’ dietary needs.
• Follow standardized recipes and substitutions only when authorized.
• Serve food using proper portion control methods.
• Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations.
• Estimate portions accurately and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control costs.
• Adhere to sanitation, storage, recordkeeping, and chemical handling regulations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (steamer, oven, grill, slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher).
• Maintain organized, clean, and compliant cooler and freezer spaces.
• Complete daily cleaning assignments to uphold sanitation standards.
