Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Louisiana is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and complex testing, handle specimens, report results, and support quality control. The role includes phlebotomy and cross-training across lab sections, with adherence to CORE values and regulatory compliance.

You will operate and troubleshoot instruments, input data into the Laboratory Information System, and participate in developing or updating testing procedures to improve patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a laboratory science or medical technology
• Education evaluated as equivalent to a US bachelor's degree may be accepted by credentialing agencies

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed
• Ensures quality control program is properly followed
• Calculates, enters, and verifies results
• Uses the Laboratory Information System
• Notifies with critical laboratory values
• Processes patient specimens with attention to pediatric volume considerations
• Participates in evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures
• Adapts patient care activities to population-specific needs
• Demonstrates adherence to CHRISTUS Health CORE values
• Completes compliance and regulatory tasks as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489 (includes U.S. Military laboratory training courses of at least 50 weeks)
