Job summary

WellSpan Health in York, PA seeks a Laboratory Technologist for full-time evening shifts (3:00p-11:30p). The role involves a range of routine and specialized testing across laboratory divisions, with supervision as needed, and active participation in QC and safety programs.

You will work with instruments, prepare reagents, and collaborate with medical staff to provide timely data for diagnosis and treatment. A CAP-aligned academic background and ASCP/AMT credentials support eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field required (CAP preferred).
• College diploma required as part of CAP requirements; field indicated on diploma within 6 months.
• College transcripts required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and/or specialized testing and procedures with supervision as appropriate.
• Operates a variety of laboratory instruments and records results.
• Performs quality control and instrument check procedures and maintains related records.
• Inoculates, cultivates, classifies, and identifies microorganisms found in bodily fluids to provide data on infectious diseases.
• May group or type blood of donors and recipients and determine compatibility.
• Performs chemical and/or immunological tests to identify substances in blood and other body fluids.
• Counts and describes morphology of blood and body fluid cells; conducts coagulation testing.
• Prepares and maintains reagents, solutions, and stains.
• Trains other employees in day-to-day procedures.
• May consult with medical staff on laboratory services.
• Participates in surveys and research activities; investigates new products and equipment.
