Job summary

The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA is seeking a Part-Time, non-exempt Child Watch Lead for evening shifts 3:00-7:00 PM. You will supervise Child Watch staff, ensure safety, and deliver engaging activities in alignment with YMCA values.

You will assist with interviewing, hiring, and training, communicate with parents, and support youth enrichment programming as needed. This role offers a sign-on bonus and a free YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience in childcare settings and leading a team preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
• Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups.
• CPR and AED; trainings in Child Abuse Prevention and Blood Borne Pathogens provided.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Child Watch program and supervise staff.
• Ensure a safe, engaging environment for children and families.
• Interview, hire, train and retain staff with director support.
• Assist with youth programming and supervise program delivery.
• Communicate with parents about achievements and concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; document incidents and supply needs.
• Maintain attendance and coordinate substitutes as needed.
• Support other youth program areas as needed.
