Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the Evening shift at LOH. You will ensure instruments and supplies meet quotas, deliver to the surgical suites, decontaminate, test, assemble and sterilize instrument sets, and manage inventories.

You will respond to requests from internal and external customers, participate in quality improvement, and maintain instrument tracking records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; CBSPD/HSPA certification required.
• 1) CRCST, 2) CER, or 3) CFER; provisional certification acceptable.
• 400 hours of hands-on training before provisional certification expires.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, disinfection and cleaning as required.
• Stores, inventories and ships sterile packages and instruments.
• Operates instrument tracking system and maintains accurate records.
• Performs quality assurance and random sampling per protocol.
• Responds to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Delivers instruments to surgical suites in a timely manner.
• Adheres to infection control guidelines during transfers and handling of sterile supplies.
