Job summary

Middlesex Health in Middletown, CT, is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Critical Care Unit (Evenings). The role collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Nursing Director to lead clinical operations, staffing, and staff development in a 24-bed ICU/Intermediate care unit.

You will coach staff, oversee patient care delivery, and participate in quality initiatives. The position requires BSN, CT RN license, and night/evening shift availability, with a focus on evidence-based, compassionate

Qualifications

• BSN is required.
• CT RN license to practice in Connecticut.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities in nursing settings.
• Experience in an applicable clinical specialty is preferred.
• Ability to work night and evening shift assignments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care activities for approximately 70 FTE staff members.
• Oversee patient care delivery and ensure nursing practices comply with policies and standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff.
• Coach and role model for staff and affiliates; identify and develop preceptors.
• Assist with staff scheduling and unit coverage based on targets and acuity.
• Participate in onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff.
• Manage daily operations to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality care.
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and development support.
• Contribute to Quality Improvement initiatives and meet performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
