Job summary

Luzerne County Community College is seeking a FT Public Safety and Security Officer for the 2:30pm–10:30pm shift. The role protects college facilities, responds to emergencies, conducts investigations, and enforces parking and safety rules on campus in Nanticoke, PA.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, PA Act 235 certification, a PA Driver's license, and CPR/First Aid certifications are preferred. Three years of related experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; Act 235(f) certification; PA Act 235 license within 6 months; valid PA Driver's License; CPR/AED/First Aid certifications preferred.
• Experience: Three years in law enforcement or related field.
• Skills: Strong public service commitment; ability to communicate with diverse community; law enforcement training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol College facilities, grounds and parking areas to deter violations and prevent crime.
• Open and secure facilities as scheduled.
• Respond to and manage emergencies on campus, including incidents, fires, alarms and accidents.
• Investigate reported violations and enforce campus regulations.
• Prepare security reports as needed and coordinate with campus police.
• Inspect and report on status of fire and safety equipment.
• Serve as medical first responder adhering to safety procedures.
