Job summary

Arturo Velasquez Institute (AVI) is seeking a full-time Janitor to clean and maintain campus facilities on the evening shift in the Chicago area. Responsibilities include dusting, mopping, bathroom cleaning, waste removal, and basic maintenance to keep buildings presentable for students, faculty, and staff.

The position is represented by SEIU Local 73. Chicago residency is required within six months of hire, and the contract follows the applicable bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Ability to perform all janitorial duties listed.

Responsibilities

• Dust all ledges, counter tops, files, office equipment, desk and walls.
• Dust mop all hard surfaces.
• Spot clean or wash walls, desks, glass and doors as needed.
• Thorough cleaning of bathrooms and fixtures.
• Polish furniture and metal surfaces.
• Cleaning of exterior and interior areas; trash removal.
• Set up and take down chairs and tables; assist with light fixtures cleaning.
• Operate vacuum cleaners; wash Venetian blinds; mop and scrub floors.
