Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Blood Bank technologist to perform complex hematology/immunohematology testing and supervise junior staff. The role supports transfusion services with accurate results and timely reporting.

Shifts are 3:00pm-11:30pm, with holidays and on-call as required. A strong background in Blood Bank testing and ASCP certification is essential, with a bachelor’s degree plus experience or an MLS/ASCP credential.

Qualifications

• US NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program with ASCP MT/MLS certification.
• Or BS in Science with 3+ years Blood Bank experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow Blood Bank protocols and perform complex tests for the area.
• Provide guidance to lower level technologists and ensure timely results.
• Manage specimens, packaging, and transport between sites.
• Maintain equipment, calibration, and safety compliance.
• Instruct students and new staff in procedures.
