Job summary

YAI is seeking a Direct Support Professional with a background in behavioral health to support individuals in a Bronx program. The role includes ABIS duties, supervision, and community integration activities.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in psychology or related field and experience with I/DD, plus essential certifications (SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP). Weekend/evening shifts are typical in this setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or closely related Human Services and at least six months of experience with I/DD and/or supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Formal training and two years of experience in I/DD or equivalent direct care experience in a YAI program.
• Foundational certifications required: SCIP-R, CPR and AMAP; maintain as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform DSP duties and ABIS tasks to ensure safety and care of individuals.
• Lead identification and scheduling of community inclusion activities.
• Provide supervised, therapeutically informed support and document changes in supervision levels.
