Job summary

Iron Bridge Recovery Center in Chester, VA is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Associate for evenings (3pm–11pm) with weekend availability. The role focuses on monitoring client behavior, providing care, and supporting treatment activities in a structured environment.

The position requires CPR and de-escalation training, with a preference for some experience with the target population and knowledge of psychiatric conditions and treatment modalities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience with the specific population preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and treatment modalities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure wellbeing and provide a safe, structured environment.
• Maintain constant supervision of clients and conduct safety checks.
• Observe client behavior and report significant changes to supervisor.
• Encourage attendance in group therapy and client participation in activities.
• Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups on social, coping, and living skills.
• Record vitals and report changes to nursing staff.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and behavior.
• Assist with incident reporting and transportation when needed.
• Onboard new clients and orient to programs and activities.
