Job summary

Urban-Farmer-Inc in Manteno, IL is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Manager to oversee toppings and bakery production, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery. The role requires hands-on supervision on the production floor, coaching shift leaders, and meeting cost targets while maintaining compliance with food-safety standards.

You will manage cross-shift handovers, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement with lean methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent supervisory experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in bakery or food production with multi-shift oversight.
• Strong knowledge of bakery manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies.
• Proficiency in ERP/CMMS and Microsoft Office; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety and food compliance, ensuring OSHA, GMP, and company policies are followed.
• Oversee production activities across all shifts, maintaining schedules and safety standards.
• Coordinate handovers and standardize reporting across shifts to ensure consistency.
• Monitor KPIs (yield, waste, downtime, labor) and drive improvement.
• Lead and coach toppings shift supervisors and operators; support training and cross-training.
• Lead CI initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Standard Work) and investigate root causes of issues.
