Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) in New York’s Southern Tier is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support the safe delivery of anesthesia care. You will assist with equipment preparation, maintenance, and workflow coordination under anesthesia providers in the Operating Room and various non-OR locations.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year patient care experience, CPR within 3 months, and preferred CerAT certification or prior surgical technologist experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience in a patient care area.
• CPR Certification within 3 months of hire.
• National certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (CerAT) is preferred.
• Previous Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles transducer and pressure cables for arterial line kits; flushes lines of air; zero calibration; primes IV pumps.
• Coordinates and sets up for difficult intubation cases and emergency/non-emergency scenarios; organizes equipment including laryngoscopes and endotracheal tubes.
• Accompanies anesthesia provider to CPRs and traumas; collaborates with OR staff to determine equipment and supplies needed.
• Transports anesthesia machines to non-OR locations; ensures setup, connection of gas lines, and pre-procedure testing.
• Secures monitoring equipment (EKG, BP, pulse oximeter) on patients, including neonatal and pediatric cases.
• Stocks IV solutions and supplies in anesthesia carts; checks sterility and expiration dates; ensures operable equipment and availability of emergency carts.
• Maintains anesthesia machines and carts; performs minor repairs and ensures proper sterilization practices.
• Checks oxygen monitors and gas supplies; coordinates with Biomed for annual inspections; supports hazardous gas analysis with vendors.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
