Job summary

Northwell Health in New York seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the operating room by maintaining and setting up anesthesia equipment and supplies.

The role requires ASATT certification, a high school diploma, BCLS certification preferred, and the ability to work under pressure while coordinating with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure patient safety. This on-site role emphasizes equipment readiness and infection control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Anesthesia Technician by ASATT.
• BCLS Certification preferred.
• Must complete sites' training program within three (3) month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot, and initiate repairs of anesthesia equipment.
• Check monitoring equipment daily and prepare circuits per procedures.
• Notify Bio-Medical Specialist for required repairs to ensure patient safety.
• Assist with intubation and setup of anesthesia supplies and warming devices.
• Coordinate activities outside the unit and accompany anesthesiologist/surgeon as appropriate.
• Set up pressure transducers and ensure calibration of the transducers.
• Respond to emergencies in all anesthetizing locations and setup emergency equipment.
• Maintain logs and QA records; ensure safety and infection-control compliance.
• Stock supplies for administration of anesthesia and ensure availability across ORs.
