WCBI-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Mississippi, is looking for its next rising star to produce and anchor our evening newscasts each weekday.

Responsibilities

• Be passionate, energetic, and able to connect with viewers on-air.
• Break stories in the field and on the desk.
• Review scripts for newscasts and reporters in the newsroom; write clear, concise, conversational copy.
• Produce or help produce an informational, accurate, and well‑paced show.
• Call sources and take live shots when needed to break down and deliver complex information in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
• Research and tell complex stories for special reports and series.
• Ad‑lib anchors skills when necessary.
• Work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, and sometimes stressful environment.
• Remain active on social media and make appearances on behalf of the station.
• Be flexible to work varying shifts, including severe weather, elections, or other impactful news events.
• Lead the newsroom by mentoring young journalists, developing story ideas, and actively participating in editorial meetings.

Qualifications
