Job summary

Town of Ellington seeks a Custodian for the 2nd shift to perform routine custodial cleaning across municipal facilities, including Town Hall and annex buildings. Duties include vacuuming, mopping, trash removal, restocking supplies, and basic maintenance under the Facilities Crew Chief supervision.

The role requires physical work, ability to work in varied conditions, and flexibility for evenings or events. Graduation from high school or equivalent with related experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with up to 3 months related experience.
• Knowledge of custodial cleaning materials, methods and safety practices.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment and basic maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial cleaning of municipal facilities (vacuuming, mopping, restrooms).
• Dust and clean surfaces, empty trash, restock supplies.
• Carry out floor care, carpet cleaning, and basic maintenance tasks as needed.
• Assist with exterior maintenance and snow removal when required.
• Open/secure facilities and monitor building systems and safety.
